About Penhold Commons Community Area

The Penhold Commons Community Area is located south of the Penhold Regional Multiplex in Penhold and serves as one of the town’s main outdoor recreation hubs. The area provides a variety of amenities for residents and visitors to gather, play, and stay active.

Amenities available at Penhold Commons include:

  • Two ball diamonds (available to rent for games, practices, and tournaments)

  •  Maintained soccer fields (available to rent for games, team practices, and tournaments)

  •  Disc golf course for recreational players and families

  •  All-wheel park for skateboards, bikes, scooters, and other wheeled sports

  •  Public wood-fired grills available for public use (users must bring their own wood and cooking accessories and are asked to clean up the area after use)

  •  Walking paths that loop through the park and around the storm pond, connecting to Penhold’s broader trail system and linking residents with the rest of the community

  •  Open green spaces for picnics, relaxing, or informal recreation

With a mix of recreation amenities, open space, and scenic pathways, Penhold Commons provides a welcoming place for residents and visitors to gather, play, stay active, and connect with the community year-round.

This collaborative project between the Town of Penhold and The Penhold & District Optimist Club opened in the fall of 2021. The opening of the Multi-Use All-Wheel Mark (MAP) saw a modified version of the long anticipated skatepark become a reality along with a pump track feature to create a Multi-Use All-Wheel Park (MAP) south of the Penhold Regional Multiplex.

What is a pump track?

It’s a closed loop track with rolling bumps, banked corners and berms (swoopy, banked turns) for biking, rollerblading and scooters. They are designed to maximize momentum so users can ride the pump track with minimal exertion. Pump tracks are a perfect structure for practising balance, learning skills and improving confidence. 

The skatepark portion of the Penhold MAP will include seven (7) features:

  • bank ramp
  • slappy rail
  • manual pad
  • flat rail
  • flat ledge
  • quarter pipe extension
  • quarter pipe transition

Penhold offers well-maintained soccer pitches for community sports programs, recreational use, and tournaments. One of the town’s main fields is located south of the Penhold Regional Multiplex at #1 Waskasoo Avenue.

These spacious fields are primarily used by children’s sports programs but are available for a wide range of field sports. Rental rates are $30 per game, with a weekend rate of $120 per day.

The Penhold Athletic Park features two Town-owned ball diamonds, serving both adult leagues and children’s sports programs during the summer months. These fields provide well-maintained spaces for recreational play and organized sports.

Rental Information:

  • Standard rental: $30 per game

  • Weekend rate: $120 per day

  • Payment is required in advance for the full scheduled booking.

Facilities & Maintenance:

  • Weather permitting, the Town will mow the fields weekly and drag and line the diamonds prior to each rental (weekdays).

  • The Town strives to maintain the fields to the best of its ability but cannot be held responsible for injuries that may occur.

  • Diamond rentals are first-come, first-served.
