Animal Control

If you are looking for a lost pet, contact the Community Peace Officers at 403-886-3286 and leave a voicemail with your information if no one is available to take your call at the time.

Animals without a pet license, or owner identification, will be posted on the Town of Penhold facebook page in an attempt to find the owner. Proof of ownership will be required to claim the animal.

If the Community Peace Officer is not able to locate the owner by 3:00 p.m. on the day of apprehension the animal will be transferred to Kozy Kennels for after-hours boarding at the owner’s expense.

The Town of Penhold Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw 818-2023 states all dog and cat owners residing in Penhold must register their pets annually. When an animal is registered with the Town of Penhold, a pet tag will be assigned which must be affixed to a collar worn by the animal at all times when the animal is not on the owner’s premises. Pet Licenses need to be renewed annually but the tag does not need to be replaced each year. Replacement tags can be purchased for $10 from the Town Office.
