Penhold Business Licenses

The Town of Penhold Business License Bylaw 619/05 states that:

“no person shall within or partly within the Town of Penhold corporate limits

A) carry on or operate any of the businesses, callings, trades or occupations, or

B) Carry on any undertaking or do any act or use or have any article, for which a license is required under the provisions of this bylaw unless he holds a valid license issued pursuant to the provisions of this bylaw.

Therefore any person doing business and generating income within the Town of Penhold is required to have a Town of Penhold Business License.

If you are a local resident, a business license will cost $50/yr and if you are a non-resident then your license will cost $100/yr.  General Contractor, seasonal and temporary license prices have been established so please contact the Development Officer for further details.

If you are considering operating a home based business, then you will be required to apply for a development permit to allow the business to take place at your home address.  Home based businesses are advertised to the neighbours and posted on the Town of Penhold website.  Once a development permit is approved a business license can be issued.  A development permit is a one time permit unless you move to another address.  Your business license will need to be renewed EVERY year.

Any person found in contravention of this bylaw shall be liable to a penalty of $300 for the first offense and $500 for the second and subsequent  offences.

If you have any questions about the business license bylaw, please contact the Development Officer at (403) 886-4567.
