Click here to go into the Penhold Fire Department website. The Penhold Fire Department received a Federal training grant to allow its members to take on-line training. The training meets certification requirements for both fire fighters and fire officers, and provides an opportunity for fire fighters to train at their own pace. The grant expires at the end of 2009.
The fire fighters have been practicing every Wednesday night during the summer months and in September a number of members will be taking courses including 1 here at the fire hall September 18, 19, and 20, say hi if you see them running around with their gear on.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer fire fighter there is still time to apply and take the basic course on September 18.
The Fire Department is also gearing up for a busy fire prevention week (October 4-10) and would like every one to participate in the 3 minute drill, for more information go to www.3minutedrill.alberta.ca
Fire Fighters: If you are looking for adventure, a sense of purpose and community involvement we are looking for volunteer fire fighters. We provide training, personal protective equipment, and an environment of friendship, trust, and belonging. No previous experience is required, and for the right person living in Town is also not required.
The Fire Department Responded along with Guardian EMS and the RCMP and Town Peace Officers to a vehicle accident with 1 person seriously injured and transported to hospital. The Fire Department also responded to 2 EMS first responses.
There was 1 structure fire which was an overheated furnace which caused the smoke alarm to activate.
There is a voluntary recall of Kidde smoke alarm model P1200CA made between January 1, 2009 and May 4, 2009, for more information go to the Kidde website or contact the Fire Department at 403.886.4567 during office hours.
The Fire Department is looking for volunteer fire fighters if you are interested and are able to commit to 2 training nights a month and 2 - 8 hour weekday dayshift per month, (at the fire station) we provide all equipment and training. All Peace Officers are responsible to the Chief Administration Officer for the Town of Penhold.
The Town of Penhold employs two permanent and one part-time Peace Officers. The main objective of these Peace Officers is to ensure the safety of local citizens and property throughout the municipality or jurisdiction. Peace Officers are designated by the Alberta Solicitor’s General; their duties/responsibilities include but are not limited to: enforcing/educating and ensuring compliance of most provincial statues (Traffic safety act, Gaming and Liquor Act Trespass Act ect...) and local legislation (bylaws). Peace Officers work closely with a number of other agencies, RCMP/Police services/EMS/FIRE and other Peace Officers in the province for joint operations/events and training.

When making a complaint the officer or person(s) taking the complaint require certain information, this is so the officer has a contact person, encase further pertinent information is needed. This information is protected and will only be released if charges or court is required, in this case you would be informed before any action is taken, and be willing to provide a statement and attend court.
Can I set off Fireworks? No person shall a) Purchase, possess, handle, discharge, fire or set off fireworks unless written permission issued by the Fire Chief for that purpose has been obtained, or b) Discharge, fire or set off fireworks unless written permission issued by the Fire Chief for that purpose has been obtained.
Can I operate a snowmobile in Penhold? No person shall operate a “snow vehicle” or “off highway vehicle” within the limits of Penhold except on private property where permission has been granted by the owner.
Can I park a trailer on the street? No person shall park any trailer (holiday trailer, utility trailer, or other vehicle designed to transport goods or persons) on a highway unless it is attached to a vehicle and the vehicle-trailer combination may not exceed eleven meters in length.
How long can I park my car on the street? A vehicle left standing on the street for more than 72 consecutive hours shall be deemed abandoned and may be ticketed and towed at the owners expense. “Vehicle” includes trailers. Is parking in an alley permitted? No; pursuant to the Town of Penhold Bylaw no person shall not stop or park a vehicle in any alley except when loading or unloading goods from a government or commercial vehicle. |
